The Book Of Mormon tickets

Coming to you from Broadway, it’s time for New York to gear up and get ready as the musical comedy Book of Mormon will be touring in New York at Eugene O'Neill Theatre on Tuesday 20th August 2024.

The comedic and sometimes rude and crude musical Book of Mormon follows the story of two Mormon Elders in training to become missionaries – Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, who are sent on a mission to a remote village in Uganda to share their faith with its residents. The play deliberately satirizes religion in general through the eyes of the pair, as Cunningham comes up with fact mixed with fiction to teach religion to the locals.

The Book of Mormon was produced by Robert Lopez, Trey Parker, and Matt Stone, the same creators of the cartoon TV show South Park and the Broadway musical Avenue Q.

Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham are two coming of age Mormon missionaries tasked with a mission to a local Ugandan village. Their goal is to convert the villagers to their religion, but they find out upon their arrival that their job is more demanding than they had imagined, given the pile of local issues that the villagers are against such as oppression, an HIV/AIDS epidemic, and poverty among others. The pair then gradually realize that they must use more unusual ways to succeed in their mission than the usual way that they know.

It is in this duo's differing ways where the performance of The Book of Mormon shines – allowing the subject matter of religion to be blasphemed and made fun of with comedy, showtunes, and a bit of foulmouthed language, yet still remaining inoffensive to the general public. Since its debut in 2011, the Broadway play has been received positively despite its manner of sharing its story. The church itself supported the musical, buying ads and releasing slogans specifically that stated: “You’ve seen the play, now read the book.” In its West End productions, the repeatedly sold-out shows were prime examples of The Book of Mormon’s success. Theatre goers were already drawn in given the content and theme of the play, according to The Guardian, it was even to their shock that “suddenly you realize you’re in for not just humour but a seriously fine night of entertainment, and it just keeps on getting better.” The musical’s run in Australia also loved by theatre fans, with the Sydney Morning Herald even reviewing that the Book of Mormon is a “dynamite production of a show that has consistently been called the funniest Broadway musical of all time.”

What comes as no surprise however is that because of the musical's creativity, The Book of Mormon’s several shows all over the world have earned it nine Tony Awards, four Drama Desk Awards, three Outer Circle Critics awards, four Olivier Awards, and two Helpmann Awards.

This upbeat, happy, and totally hilarious musical continues its tour in New York. New York’s best theatre venue, Eugene O'Neill Theatre, with its spacious seating capacity, magnificent lighting, and magical sound system will be hosting this August’s performance of The Book of Mormon.
