The Book Of Mormon tickets

New York, you’re in for the best kind of surprise as The Book of Mormon, one of Broadway’s wittiest, cleverest, and most amusing musicals is arriving and performing in New York on Thursday 5th September 2024 at the one and only Eugene O'Neill Theatre! Take part in a musical performance that makes you fall in love with classical theatre, full of hysterical and amusing twists.

Produced from the minds of the creators of the famous comedy TV series South Park and the musical Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon tells the story of two Latter-day Saints (LDS) missionaries, Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, as they try to convert local villagers in Uganda. In similar fashion to their previous productions, the musical takes the serious theme of religion and satirizes it through both script and music.

As Ben Brantley of The NYC Times describes, just like South Park, it is “also blasphemous, scurrilous and more foul-mouthed than David Mamet on a blue streak. But trust me when I tell you that its heart is as pure as that of a Rodgers and Hammerstein show”.

Make the most out of your chance to be part of the audience and get a seat to this smashing show, before they run out!

Launching in 2011, The Book of Mormon has undoubtedly been one of the most successful Broadway musicals since its creation. A collaboration by Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez, the musical is a different perspective on the Latter-day Saints (LDS) founder and prophet Joseph Smith complete with his Book of Mormon. The show was originally meant to premiere off Broadway at the NYC Theatre workshop after its 2008 staged reading, though this turned out to be just a prelude as its actual premiere in 2011 moved to a more central location at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre.

In just a year, the Book of Mormon was already approved for a U.S. national tour that lasted four years, including a season in Salt Lake City, Utah! The show also continued on to be produced in several locations, with a Chicago production performed in 2012, a West End production in 2013, and Australian and European productions both staged in 2017.

The story and execution of this musical were key components to this success. It tells the story of Elder Kevin Price and Elder Arnold Cunningham, two Mormon missionaries who embark on a mission to spread their religion in a remote village in Uganda. It is there that they contend with the local issues that the villagers face, as well as their contrasting methods in teaching their faith, given that Cunningham deceives the villagers by tacking on hilarious tales woven from science fiction and fantasy stories into his religious teachings, while Price is bent on teaching the villagers in the usual, orthodox manner. The way the Book of Mormon is shared with the audience is staged in quite an unorthodox manner as well, usually mocking religion in its script and also injecting comic entertainment in both of its acts, and of course, let's not forget the showtunes!

For its current season, the Book of Mormon will be in New York in September at the central theatre venue of Eugene O'Neill Theatre, which holds an smashing stage, sound system and acoustics, and unrivaled facilities that is fit for this word-class show.
