The Book Of Mormon tickets

Originating from Broadway, it’s time for New York to fall in love with theatre again as the musical comedy Book of Mormon will be coming to in New York at Eugene O'Neill Theatre on Saturday 16th November 2024.

The mindblowing and sometimes rude and crude musical Book of Mormon is focused on of two Mormon Elders in training to become missionaries – Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, who are tasked with a mission to a remote village in Uganda to share their faith with its residents. The play deliberately satirizes faith in general through the eyes of the pair, as Cunningham comes up with fact mixed with fiction to teach religion to the locals.

The Book of Mormon was produced by Robert Lopez, Trey Parker, and Matt Stone, the same creators of the cartoon TV series South Park and the Broadway play Avenue Q.

Premiering in 2011, The Book of Mormon has undoubtedly been one of the most thriving Broadway musicals since its opening. Created by Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez, the musical was inspired by the Latter-day Saints (LDS) founder and prophet Joseph Smith and his Book of Mormon. The show was intended to debut off Broadway at the NYC Theatre workshop after its 2008 staged reading, though this turned out to be just a prelude as its actual debut in 2011 moved to a more prominent location at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre.

In just a year, the Broadway play was already approved for a U.S. national tour that lasted four years, including a run in Salt Lake City, Utah, which marked the first time it would be performed there. The show also carried on to be staged in several locations, with a Chicago production staged in 2012, a West End production in 2013, and Australian and Swedish productions both performed in 2017.

The story and execution of this musical were key factors to this success. It tells the story of Elder Kevin Price and Elder Arnold Cunningham, two Mormon missionaries who embark on a mission to spread their religion in a remote village in Uganda. It is there that they struggle with completing their mission, as well as their different methods in spreading their religion, given that Cunningham deceives the villagers by tacking on hilarious tales woven from science fiction and fantasy stories into his religious teachings, while Price is bent on teaching the villagers in the usual, orthodox manner. The way the musical is shared with the audience is staged in quite an unorthodox manner as well, usually making fun of religion in its script and also injecting humor in both of its acts, and of course, let's not forget the showtunes!

For its current run, the Book of Mormon will be in New York in November at the central theatre venue of Eugene O'Neill Theatre, which holds an incredible stage, sound system and acoustics, and finest facilities that is fit for this box office hit.
