The Book Of Mormon tickets

New York, you’re in for the best kind of surprise as The Book of Mormon, one of Broadway’s wittiest, cleverest, and most amusing plays is arriving and performing in New York on Tuesday 24th December 2024 at the one and only Eugene O'Neill Theatre! Take part in a musical viewing that makes you fall in love with classical musicals, full of unrestrained and humorous twists.

Produced from a collaboration of the creators of the famous comedy TV show South Park and the play Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon features two Mormon missionaries, Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, as they try to convert local villagers in Uganda. In the same fashion to their previous creations, the musical takes the serious subject of religion and satirizes it through both writing and music.

As Ben Brantley of The NYC Times describes, just like South Park, it is “also blasphemous, scurrilous and more foul-mouthed than David Mamet on a blue streak. But trust me when I tell you that its heart is as pure as that of a Rodgers and Hammerstein show”.

Don't miss your chance to be part of the audience and get a seat to this incredible show, before they're all gone!

Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham are two missionaries of the Latter-day saints (LDS) sent on a mission to a local Ugandan village. Their mission is to convert the locals to their faith, but they find out upon their arrival that their job is more demanding than they had imagined, given the pile of local issues that the villagers are against such as oppression, an HIV/AIDS epidemic, and poverty among others. The pair then come to accept that they must employ more unique methods to get through to the locals than the traditional way that they know.

It is in the pair’s differing ways where the performance of The Book of Mormon excels – allowing the subject matter of religion to be blasphemed and made fun of with comedy, showtunes, and a bit of rude language, yet still remaining inoffensive to theatre fans. Since its premiere in 2011, the The Book of Mormon has been received positively despite its manner of conveying its message. The church itself supported the musical, buying ads and releasing marketing marketing material that stated: “You’ve seen the play, now read the book.” In its West End productions, the repeatedly sold-out shows were a testament to The Book of Mormon’s success. Though most viewers were already drawn in given the content and theme of the play, according to The Guardian, it was even to their surprise that “suddenly you realize you’re in for not just humour but a seriously fine night of entertainment, and it just keeps on getting better.” The musical’s run in Australia just as successful, with the Sydney Morning Herald even proclaiming that the Book of Mormon is a “dynamite production of a show that has consistently been called the funniest Broadway musical of all time.”

It's no shock that , The Book of Mormon’s several productions globally have earned it nine Tony Awards, four Drama Desk Awards, three Outer Circle Critics awards, four Olivier Awards, and two Helpmann Awards.

This upbeat, happy, and totally silly show continues its tour in New York.
