The Book of Mormon, one of the the longest-running shows in Broadway history, will now be arriving in New York! and showing at Eugene O'Neill Theatre on Friday 1st November 2024!
This tale is of the coming-of-age story of an odd duo of two Mormon missionaries, Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham. The Book of Mormon showcases the theme of religion and religious storytelling, and presents it in a fresh comedic light. The two missionaries are tasked with a mission to enlighten the villagers of a local village in Uganda, who turn out to be facing more important challenges than what they aim to preach.
The Book of Mormon was conceptualized back in 2003 by creators Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez, continuing on to its premiere in 2011. Since then, the Book of Mormon has become one of the most commercially successful Broadway plays in history, with repeatedly sold-out shows for over a decade.

Lauded as one of the longest-running Broadway shows of all time, The Book of Mormon has been a fan favorite from all around the globe. In its tour over a number of cities in the United States, London’s West End, and Australia among others, the musical has been met with an astounding reception from audiences and sold-out shows. In New York, it is expected to be no different as the performance on Friday 1st November 2024 will be staged in Eugene O'Neill Theatre, with a reputation of staging the premier plays and musicals, and praised by audiences because of its beautiful facilities and adequate seating.
The Book of Mormon is a musical about religious teachings and stories, specifically Mormon missionaries named Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, as they are sent on a mission to teach their religion’s faith and teachings to a small local village in Uganda. They discover however, the locals are indifferent to their preaching, as they face issues of their own. The pair then clash because of their methods to convert the locals, with Cunnigham’s often involving adding fake stories to his teachings.
After a decade of success, The Book of Mormon has garnered several awards in both Broadway and West End. Let's not forget the nine Tony Awards out of fourteen total nominations, including for Best Musical (received right after its opening night in 2011), four Drama Desk Awards, and three Outer Circle Critics awards. In the West End production of the show which debuted in 2013 at the Prince of Wales theatre, it won four Laurence Olivier Awards again including for Best Musical, while in its Australian tour in 2017, it also won two Helpmann Awards that also included for Best Musical.
Monetarily, The Book of Mormon has also achieved unsurpassed commercial success with more than 4,600 performances as of the end of alst year. It has raked in over $1 billion dollars worldwide, and was even contributed to by the church through ad buys of ad space, billboards, bus advertising space, and other marketing campaigns in the several cities in which the show appeared in.
