New York, you’re in for the best kind of surprise as The Book of Mormon, one of Broadway’s wittiest, cleverest, and most comedic musicals is arriving and performing in New York on Saturday 14th December 2024 at the one and only Eugene O'Neill Theatre! Take part in a musical viewing that makes you laugh and love classical musicals, full of unrestrained and comedic twists.
Produced from the minds of the creators of the famous comedy TV series South Park and the musical Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon tells the story of two Latter-day Saints (LDS) missionaries, Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, as they try to convert local villagers in Uganda. In similar fashion to their previous creations, the musical takes the serious theme of religion and satirizes it through both writing and music.
As Ben Brantley of The NYC Times shares, just like South Park, it is “also blasphemous, scurrilous and more foul-mouthed than David Mamet on a blue streak. But trust me when I tell you that its heart is as pure as that of a Rodgers and Hammerstein show”.
Don't miss your chance to be one of the lucky ones and get a seat to this second to none show, before they run out!

Debuting in 2011, The Book of Mormon has undoubtedly been one of the most successful Broadway musicals since its inception. A collaboration by Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez, the musical is based on the Latter-day Saints (LDS) founder and prophet Joseph Smith complete with his Book of Mormon. The show was originally meant to premiere off Broadway at the NYC Theatre workshop after its 2008 staged reading, though this turned out to be a blessing in disguise as its actual launch in 2011 moved to a more prominent location at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre.
Because of a successful first year, the play was already greenlit for a U.S. national tour that lasted four years, including a season in Salt Lake City, Utah! The show also proceeded to be staged in several locations, with a Chicago production staged in 2012, a West End production in 2013, and Australian and European productions both staged in 2017.
The story and execution of this musical were key elements to this success. It tells the story of Elder Kevin Price and Elder Arnold Cunningham, two Mormon missionaries who aim to spread their religion in a remote village in Uganda. It is there that they contend with the indifference of the locals, as well as their opposite methods in teaching their faith, given that Cunningham deceives the villagers by tacking on hilarious tales woven from science fiction and fantasy stories into his sermons, while Price is determined to teach the villagers in the usual, orthodox manner. The way the Book of Mormon is shared with the audience is told in quite an unorthodox manner as well, usually mocking religion in its script and also injecting humor in both of its acts, and of course, let's not forget the showtunes!
For its current production, the Book of Mormon will be in New York in December at the magnificent theatre venue of Eugene O'Neill Theatre, which holds an smashing stage, sound system and acoustics, and premier facilities that is fit for this critically-acclaimed musical.
